+Happenings+

"For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons."

+A New Sun+

There is a house in New Orleans

They call the Rising Sun

And its been a ruin of many a poor boy

And God, I know, I'm one

We may not be able to choose our families or homes but they do not have to be the ruin of us.

+Return of the Fabulousness+

Goodness me, I can't believe I've slacked off here so much. This blog isn't abandoned. Don't fear that. I may not need it the way I needed it when I first started (I'm your typical Blogger With Anxiety That Needed An Outlet) but I have discovered that I very much like it too.

I have really just been trying to decide exactly what I want this place to be and I think I've decided that I want it to be a beautiful place full of all sorts of visual inspiration, gorgeous art, lyrical and quotable goodness, and the odd bit of writing.

I think I was getting too caught up in trying to be a good writer and putting out articles and all the stuff I admire from other bloggers that I love.

I just want to make the world a more pretty place really. I want to make people feel good about themselves and inspire them to do things and I think I may be able to do that with artwork (and some words).

Like I said, I'm still here, and I'm really thrilled if you still are too.

+Artist Trading Card Spree: Lost Her Behind The Moon+

A while ago I bought a little package of pre-cut bristol board for doing Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) and decided yesterday to actually make some.

It was awesomeness. It was the first time I had used my nice little pre-cut rectangles, and once you get the juices flowing it's lovely being able to just grab the next pre-cut one (did I mention they were pre-cut?). The ways of the old was stopping to measure and cut bristol board, then carry on, and lose inspiration around the third one. I made SEVEN yesterday. I was awful proud of myself.

So here, I proudly present, the first in the Great ATC Frenzy of May 17th, 2o11, titled 'Lost Her Behind The Moon'.

+Why Don't You...+

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

...go ghost town/abandoned place exploring?

A dream of mine is to plan a ghost town road trip where you actually visit real abandoned towns. This was equally cool though as it's surprisingly hard to find honest to goodness ghost towns than I thought it would be (most in my area have 1-3 buildings scattered about small rural towns).

Steve and I did find this beauty though (also to which the photo credit goes to). It's called Camp 30 and was a Nazi P.O.W. camp. Right in, Ontario! Craziness! It was later on used as a school and now is the ultimate teen party spot destination, but it's like a mini town on it's own and all the buildings are there (some accessible). It was all just so cool, we got so many amazing pictures, and it's really like being in another (somewhat post-apocalyptic) world.

Obviously, when it comes to this kind of thing you should be wary of nails, broken glass, soft floors, animals, etc. You also might want to make sure that you aren't trespassing.

Happy trails ya'll! Make sure to share if you venture out and do this!
